Maybelline Colour Tattoo | Cream Gel Eyeshadow

Cream eyeshadows are something I've never tried before. Being happy with normal powder eyeshadow I didn't feel a need for it in my life. I saw these on offer in my local boots recently and I swatched them on my hand and fell in love. The smooth gel like texture is amazing and so pigmented for a cream/gel solution. I picked up On and On Bronze and Metallic Pomegranate, knowing that the bronze one would be a perfect base for so many different looks and the pomegranate was a colour which would take me right through Autumn and great for green eyes like mine.
The packaging is beautiful and reminds me a great deal of Chanel? However, at a much more affordable price than any gel shadows I've seen before at just £4.99 each. I love the little screw pots and they're great to use with a brush or just your finger. What really did impress me was how long they stayed on. Obviously with a cream based eyeshadow it's always a good idea to prime your eyelid but I had thoughts of it being printed all over my eyebrow or smudged down beneath my eyes. Obviously this didn't happen and they didn't budge for a good 6+ hours. I can't say I've tested the '24hour' claim but who would wear eyeshadow for that long anyway? I'm so impressed with these shadows and can't wait to do a look for you all to see.
You can get these shadows from here. Have you tried these before, what are your thoughts? Can you recommend any other cream shadows?

The Perfect Autumn Lip

Hello you lovely people. It's been a rather hot September so far and even though it's officially Autumn I'm still not fully embracing jumpers and fluffy socks. However, I've already found my perfect lip colour to take me all the way through this Autumn. It's the Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Finsh Matte Lipstick in 107. I know the Kate Moss range has been out for so long now but I've always been scared of a dark lip.  Up until today, I just never found the confidence to wear such a bold colour. But from the moment I twisted this beautiful dark wine shade out of it's lovely red packaging I was in love.

To say it's a matte lipstick it's super moisturising and feels so nice on the lips. The colour pay-off is great and it's lasts a fair few hours, although I haven't tested it with eating/drinking. I would recommend you use this with a lip liner  or a apply this with a lip brush to give you the perfect finish as it's so bold it can be tricky to apply. I'm so in love with this lipstick and it's great for out and about and also for going out somewhere pretty in the evening.

Have you tried this lipstick? What's your perfect Autumnal Lip?
Enjoy your weekend

Kerastase Ciment Thermique

Kerastase is a brand that I've heard such great things about but never actually tried any of the products. I do think some of their products can be a little pricey, however I decided to take the plunge and try got this for around £14.  Kérastase Resistance Ciment Thermique Heat-Activated Reconstructor Milk Level 1-4 is a heat protective milk for weakened hair, meaning it was the perfect match for my highlighted locks.
This leave in treatment works in a very different way to previous products I've tried. In order to strengthen and fortify the hair fibre from the inside out it needs to be used with heat from a blow dry or straighteners. I've never tried a product with a concept like this and it work as a heat protector as well as a reconstructor and strengthener. However this is a little bit of a pain when I want to let my hair air dry.
When using this you have to use the smallest amount as it can make your hair feel like it is coated, but doesn't dull or change the colour of your hair in any way. I take about the size of a 1 pence piece and work it through the ends of my hair then leave it until my hair is about 80% dry then blow dry as usual. The smell from this product is amazing, it's literally like a fruity heaven on your head!
I haven't seen massive improvements in my hair but the ends feel so much better than before. I'm going to keep using along with my other hair products and hopefully it will continue to grow even healthier than before.
Have you tried any of the Kerastase range? What are your favourite hair products?

Nutrition | Good Food I'm Reaching For

There is currently a huge trend with healthy eating and exercise, which has been massively influenced by social media such as instagram. Now I for one am so happy that exercise and healthy eating is literally the 'in thing'. I hate fast food places like KFC and I'm super into fitness and my running. However, nutrition is something I've always struggled with. From the start of high school I became a vegetarian and from then on I had a constant battle with my iron levels and anaemia. These days I do eat chicken and fish but I wouldn't dare touch red meat. I'm no nutritionist but I know that no food is going to cure diseases but a variety of these different food types will definitely help you to get the perfect balance of nutrients that your body needs.
So Waitrose has reported at 183% increase in the sales of coconut oil and coconut water and I can completely see why everyone is reaching for their coconuts! Coconuts contain so many essential nutrients which your body needs to fuel itself - carbohydrates, fats and protein. Basically the good types of fats which are turned over into energy and don't go into fat storage! My favourite coconut products are Lucy Bee Coconut Oil - which I use to cook literally everything, you can even use this to sweeten your tea! My other favourite is the Vita Coco Natural Coconut Water, this is the best thing you can take after running to rehydrate your body and it even contains more potassium than a banana!
A rather funny food and pronunciation of keen-wah, which made me laugh at first. But this is a great grain which unlike others, is seen as a brilliant source of complete protein. It does have quite a strange taste at first, especially if like me you're expecting it to taste just like rice. However, it can be used in porridge, cookie and muffin recipes or salads and stir fries! You can buy this from the supermarket, usually kept near the pastas or online here. I'd also recommend you click on the image link and have a read of the article over there, it gives you something to think about.
Quark is a dairy product, kind of a cross between cottage cheese and yoghurt, generally used in cheescakes. It has a creamy consistency but isn't sugared like yoghurt and has no salt like cottage cheese. The reason why I love quark is that it is very high in protein yet has low carbs and fat content, meaning it keeps you fuller for longer. It tastes quite bland but a little like natural yoghurt, but one of the good things with quark is how you can add the flavour. I add berries and use it like a natural yoghurt or mix it into smoothies or with protein powder. There are literally no limits. The hardest thing is finding it in the supermarket though as some stock it near the cheese and some near the yoghurts!!
Matcha is literally ground green tea leaves, resulting in a fine ground powder. This means it's super concentrated and full of essential nutrients and goodness. The good thing about matcha is because the leaves are ground it's literally like you're eating them, instead of throwing away the teabag so you're reaping the benefits of the caffeine like qualities and anti-oxidants. You can buy the powder alone to mix in smoothies and juices which tastes amazing or you can buy the already made up drinks from teapigs.
These are just a few of the foods I have been reaching for recently. I'd love to hear what healthy foods you're eating or your recommendations for yummy healthy recipes...

The Kylie Jenner Lip

She's definitely the edgy one out of the Kardashian - Jenner clan, known for her ever changing hair and edgy style. But now we're all obsessing a teeny bit over Kylie Jenner's new plumped pout. Her new pout is very controversial and I must admit you can tell she draws her lips way out of her natural lipline, but you have to admit she is rocking the look. I do love it, although I'm not one for making my lips look huuuuge, especially when they are teeny anyway and would look totally ridiculous. Kylie has openly admitted to use the Mac Whirl Lip Liner along with Mac's Velvet Teddy Lipstick. Beauty lovers alike have obviously caught on as most stores and online seem to be sold out of these two products. However this post is my own take on the KJ lip using high street products.
Kylie has a very distinct line around her lips, but I didn't want to go for the very 90's supermodel look and I've gone for a much more natural wearable lip. You'll see below in the pictures that it's a different shade to Kylie's but much more suited to my skin tone. To line my lips I used the  Rimmel Exaggerate Full Colour Lip Liner in Eastend Snob. This is the perfect natural lip colour and is literally my lips but one shade darker and even better it's only £3.99. I'd definitely recommend this as a staple for your makeup bag. I then used the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick in Nude-ist. This is the first time I've tried one of these lipsticks and they go on much like a lipgloss but it's a very thick opaque formula, so be careful to make sure you don't have too much on the brush. Then after a few minutes it dries into a matte colour. I really love this colour, it's so wearable and I thought it would be super drying (even on my very dry lips) as it's matte but it felt and looked fine throughout the day. Another great thing is their staying power, they wont budge - however this is a pain when you try to remove it and it turns your face a tinted pink. For £8.99 I'm definitely going to stock up on the other shades in the range!

What are you thoughts on the Kylie Jenner lip? Have you achieved this look with any products?

The Weekend Face

This weekend marked my friends birthday, which we celebrated by a night out in Leeds. Although as it was a Friday I felt like I didn't want to look too over-dressed as there are lots of city workers out and it's quite casual. So I kept it simple bringing out some of the old favourites and experimenting with a different eye palette, straying away from the usual Naked palette look. As I kept it quite neutral with the eyes I did attempt a bit of a brighter lip but for once Topshop's Macaroon looks quite nude. After these pictures I did switch it up and went for a Mac Crème Cup lip instead. I used my enrapture heated rollers in my hair and I was very upset as I ended up melting half of one roller as it wasn't sitting on the bar properly. Damn! Here's what I used:

Laura Mercier Primer
Nars Sheer Glow in Barcelona
Collection Concealer
No7 Powder
Benefit Hoola Bronzer
Sleek Rose Gold Blush and Highlighter
HD Brow Kit in Ash Brown

Bourjois 1 Second Mascara
Ardell Demi Wispies
Collection Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner
Mac Eye Kohl in Phone Number
Clinique Eyeshadow in Daybreak (base) and Chocolate Chip (crease)

Topshop Lipstick in Macaroon

The Glamour Beauty Power List 2014

Hello beautifuls. I hope you're all having a lovely week! On Sunday I ran the Bupa Great North Run (half marathon) with my Dad, supporting the Alzheimer's Society. It was such an amazing experience and I'm so proud of myself, considering I couldn't run to the end of the street at the start of the year. It's safe to say I have been making the most of rest days since, however I did go to the new release of metafit at my gym and I have the biggest bruises ever on my knees from the crazy new moves. Anyway I think I definitely deserve the pampering this week so I was very happy when the Glamour Beauty Box showed up at my front door.

I know that there are a lot of these beauty boxes on the market, especially those which you can  subscribe to every month. However, what I really love about this box is it's just like a one-off, filled with such amazing products. Glamour definitely know what us beauty obsessives love and they've clearly found the best products to include in this box. The products in the box are the ones that made the Beauty Power List and I must say I am so impressed.

The Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser
Obviously the whole reason why I wanted this box in the first place. The Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser is a cult cleanser which is huge with beauty bloggers, vloggers and anyone who loves good skincare. I'm ashamed to say I've never tried it! Although, I cannot wait to get into using this. I love how it comes with it's own little cloth to help cleanse skin leaving it smooth, clean and conditioned. Expect a full review shortly.

Eyeko Mascara Off Eye Makeup Remover Wipes
As I lead quite an active lifestyle, running and going to the gym, I do wear waterproof mascara on a daily basis. This means when I exercise I just remove my face makeup and I'm ready to go. But the night time mascara removal routine is a nightmare. This is where these little beauts come in. They're 100% cotton pads which contain aloe extracts and olive oil, which will help that mascara to slide right off whilst conditioning my lashes. These sound brilliant and hopefully will be the saviour I've been needing.
Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde Mascara
Having never tried a bourjois mascara, I am impressed. The packaging is just amazing and bourjois always manage to make their products so pretty. The brush is rather large which helps to coat all of your lashes, without clumping! It does leave my lashes very voluminous but definitely takes more than the second.

Philip Kingsley Daily Damage Defence Conditioning Spray
Now I am obsessed with hair products. I'm always on a mission to get healthy long luscious locks and anything designed to protect my hair is a bonus. Philip Kingsley has been a huge success with their cult product the elactisizer (which I have yet to try).  This spray is designed to protect your hair from daily heat, styling and breakage and can be sprayed into wet hair as a detangler! Sounds amazing to me, it's the perfect little size and smells like an expensive perfume.

Laura Mercier Foundation Primer
I've only ever tried one primer, the benefit pore-fessional one and I've been happy with it so I never saw a reason to try something else. But this primer is beautiful! It's a lovely creamy gel texture which makes your skin feel amazing. I haven't tested it's longevity yet so cannot comment on whether your makeup stays put for the long run but I'm hoping I'll be very impressed.

Nude Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick | Coffee Craze
When I first pulled this out of the box I didn't have a clue what it was but noticed it looked like a rather scary coffee colour. Then I swatched it on my hand and found it's the most beautiful creamy 'Kylie Jenner' nude. Everyone knows how huge nude lips are right now and this seems to be the perfect shade. The texture is amazingly creamy and I'm very impressed. I would never usually go for such a shade but that's why these boxes are good. It definitely won't suit all skin tones but it's such a lovely everyday lip colour, for me anyway.

James Read Sleep Mask Tan
I am definitely one for sun kissed skin, the whole year round. But I kind of went off fake tan literally this time last year. I was fed up of the patches and scrubbing your skin until it cried. However this little beauty may have brought back my tanning days. It's said to combine the hydrating effects of a facial with a healthy does of self-tan. Which sounds brilliantly moisturising to me and anything that wont sit on my dry patches is a bonus. You can then wake up with beautifully sun-kissed skin. I'm intrigued and can't wait to try Mr Read.
I'm super impressed with this box. I just love how you get to try so many products you wouldn't usually consider all for just £15.99. If you'd like to try some of these products you can get your box from here.  What do you think of the The Glamour Beauty Power List Box? Have you tried any of these products before, what are your thoughts?

August Favourites

Hello, gosh I cannot believe that it's time for August favourites. Where has August gone??? It    makes me sad to say goodbye to August as I've had such a relaxing time and made some great memories. However, it does mean we're edging ever so close to the end of the year and after a very difficult 2013 so far I'm happy to say goodbye. Everything on this post seems to look a little bland but I've really loved all of these products and have to share them with you...

In Summertime everyone wants their skin to look the best, as it's probably the only time of year your skin sees the sun. It can be a bit of a chore slathering on body moisturiser in the morning or after shower time, so this is where this lovely product comes in. You use it after cleansing with shower gel and you rub it into your skin before rinsing off. It applies like a creamy body lotion and this one smells beautiful. When you step out of the shower your skin feels soft and moisturised and I don't feel like I have to apply moisturiser. I'll definitely be re-buying!

If you're a regular on my blog you will know how much I love Clinique. This month I've really loved using their Moisture Surge Overnight Mask because my skin has felt a little dry from all of the sun it's had. I use this as a night cream and it's not too thick and on a morning leaves my skin feeling fresh and moisturised without being oily.
I am obsessed with hair products at the moment. Again, after the amount of sun my hair has had it is desperately needing a nourishing treatment. This product is so perfect, you apply it like a leave in conditioner and dry/straighten your hair as normal. It smells so fruity and amazing and leaves my hair feeling and looking stronger and healthier. I definitely want to do a full review of this little beauty.

I love this lipstick so much. To me it's been my perfect Summer shade, bright and pretty yet totally wearable. I've not tried much of the topshop makeup range but judging by how much I love this maybe I need to explore. The shade is the most perfect coral pink and the longevity is great too.

This is one of those perfumes I've had for a while but haven't tried because I've been happy with my usual scents. However, I sprayed some of this before my holidays and fell in love. It's such a beautiful scent. I'm rubbish at describing smells but it's described as 'combining a sparkle of mandarin, wild berries and water lily with a hedonic blend of dewy honeysuckle, gardenia petals and jasmine.' It's just beautiful and perfect for Summer.

I decided to come out of my comfort zone and part from my beloved Maybelline the Falsies Mascara and try something else. I definitely made the right decision because I have found a new favourite. This mascara makes my lashes look so long, without clumping or looking flaky. It claims to be a lash enhancer while helping lashes grow. They definitely look amazingly long when I apply this!
Have you tried any of these products, what were your thoughts? What products have you been loving this month?

Love Laura x
