Makeup Revolution: Ultra Cover and Conceal Palette Review

Makeup Revolution Ultra Cover and Conceal Palette | £6 | link
I feel like amongst all of the Christmas gift guides and Christmas/New Year themed posts I haven't done a product review in so long. Today I'd like to tell you about a product which I've been putting to the test since November now but it's just taken me so long to review! Makeup Revolution launched in 2014 and they are a cruelty free, innovative and affordable makeup range currently stocked online and in Superdrug stores. They have a fantastic range from the Naked Eyeshadow Palette dupes to a beautiful range of blushes and highlighters. I really don't know why it's taken me so long to pick up something from their stand.

The Cover and Conceal Palette first caught my eye because I had really been wanting a palette to contour with. For me, I was already happy with my Collection and my Maybelline Eraser eye concealers. There were three palettes to choose from light, light-medium and medium-dark. This palette is perfect for me but I'm sure the other palette would cater for lighter and darker skin shades too. The packaging is very sleek, the palette itself is lovely but does get mucky fingerprints on the lid. The huge mirror inside is also so handy, even though I have a big light up mirror I still find myself using this!

When swatching the individual concealers (the swatches are just one swatch, I didn't build up the product) I found they have a very creamy texture which almost melts onto your skin. I must admit they're not full coverage but they are slightly buildable. I've found that if using for under eye or blemish cover up it's best to use a beauty blender as it really helps to set the concealers. Like I said though my intention wasn't to use the shades to conceal with but to contour. For contouring, I think these shades are perfect. I like to use them with either my Real Techniques Contour brush or the domed shadow brush. The concealers are quite lightweight which means they don't look too un-natural on your face and just blend like a dream, helping to sculpt my face. It helps to set the concealers using a powder, not that my skin is oily but they are pretty oily and it will help to set the contour.

To conclude if you're looking for concealers I wouldn't recommend this palette. They aren't as thick as I would like for a concealer and work much better at contouring. But it's a great value little palette for only £6 and for a range of shades it's perfect. I'm also aware that Makeup Revolution have released their Protection Palettes, designed to conceal, touch up and contour. I can't wait to get my hands on these!!
Have you tried any of the Makeup Revolution range? What are your thoughts? Can you recommend any amazing cream contour products?

  1. I was looking to buy this palette, but I'm glad that I read you review first as I wanted to use them for concealing but will probably still give it a go but for contouring instead! x

    1. Yes I would definitely say it's best to contour with. If you're not looking for a high coverage concealer then I'm sure it could be a concealer for you. xx
